1What it is

Cutting turns a press sheet into individual pieces and trims off the bleed. Folding turns a flat sheet into panels, scored first on heavy stock so it doesn't crack.

2When to use it

  • Brochures, rack cards and statement stuffers
  • Self-mailers that need glue-tac or wafer seals to survive the mail
  • Binder dividers, folders and manuals that need index tabs
  • Oversized maps and posters, folding up to 44″ × 80″
  • Multi-up sheets that need precise cutting, up to 69″ × 75″

Trim and cut to size

A programmable guillotine trims bleeds and cuts multi-up sheets down to finished pieces, one lift at a time, clamped and cut one edge per stroke.

What moves the price

  1. 01Number of folds and panels, and whether any fold is a right angle
  2. 02Stock weight and coating: heavier or coated sheets are scored before they fold
  3. 03Sheet size: oversized sheets run on the large-format folder
  4. 04Gluing, perforating or a wafer-sealing pass for mail
  5. 05Index tabs: how many positions in the bank, tab size, and Mylar or plain

General bindery factors. Your estimator prices the actual job after review.

Folding

Brochures, inserts, mailers and maps folded to plan, from a simple half fold to right-angle folds.

  • In-line glue-tac

Large-format folding

Maps, posters and oversized sheets folded down to pocket, envelope or packaging size.

  • Up to 44″ × 80″

Wafer sealing & glue-tac

Self-mailers and folded pieces closed with wafer seals or glue tacks so they stay shut through the mail.

Cutting & trimming

Custom cutting for books, brochures and promotional materials, from multi-up press sheets to a clean final trim.

  • Large-format cutting up to 69″ × 75″

Collating

Multi-page documents gathered in the correct order, ready for binding or packaging.

Round cornering

Corners rounded so cards, tabs, menus and booklets don't dog-ear in the hand or the mail.

Drilling

Holes drilled through the stack to fit binders, rings and hang tags.

  • High-speed automatic drilling

Grommeting

Metal eyelets set into banners, tags and signs so they hang without tearing.

  • High-speed grommeting with eyelets

Index tabbing

Index tabs for dividers, folders and manuals: our tabbing machine seals clear Mylar over the edge and cuts the tab in the position you set, so it won't tear. Plain tabs, without Mylar, too.

Sheets at the feeder

Where the sheets go in.

The feeder's suction head lifts the top sheet off the pile, and the belts carry it into the folder.
